Thelma Easterling Evans, 85, of Charleston, SC, died Sunday, January 25, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc, Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
Thelma was born September 22, 1929 in Dorchester County, SC, daughter of the late James Miles Easterling and the late Lurie Ackerman Easterling. She was a retired Executive Assistant for an Electrical Contractor and former member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church. Before her illness she lived on Lake Moultrie. She loved to dance, and spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, James "Butch" D. Evans Jr. of Goose Creek, SC; daughter; Debra Evans-Ripley and her husband Len of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Donna Bryant Evans; two sisters, Tina Elrod of Goose Creek, SC, Billie Chinn of Charleston, SC; brother, Herbert Easterling of Goose Creek, SC; four Grandchildren, Beau Evans and his wife Kathryn, Philip Evans, Katie Austin and her husband James and Casey Ripley; two great-grandchildren, Ashton Evans and Sadie Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, James "J.D." Dolan Evans Sr.; son, H. E. Buck Evans; sisters, Dell Hyder and Louise Taylor.
