Terry Wayne Ryan

Terry Wayne Ryan, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Shirlee Ann Evans Ryan, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 15, 2024. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the Trinity Bible Church, 3589 Mary Ader Drive at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Terry was born August 25, 1940 in Hannibal, Missouri, son of the late Cecil Ryan and the late Anna Cox Ryan. Terry was an engineer for Caterpillar Inc. for over twenty years, later joining Cummins Inc. before opening his own consulting business. 

Terry was a frequent contributer to the Charleston Post and Courier editorial section. He enjoyed several hobbies including camping/backpacking/canoeing, performance driving, photography, and music.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Sam) Ballard; son, Michael (Viki) Ryan; sister, Cecilia Payne; four grandchildren, Sydney Ballard, Clay Ballard, Allison Ryan, Megan Ryan. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Ryan.

Terry had a soft spot for children and as a cancer patient himself, was deeply moved by children under treatment for cancer. He frequently contributed to St. Jude.
