Teodorica T Tuppil

Teodorica T. Tuppil, 79, of Johns Island, South Carolina, wife of Florentino A. Tuppil, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Her Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 5:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Teodorica was born on April 2, 1945 in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, daughter of the late Graciano Tactacan and Rafaela Tactacan.

Those who knew Teodorica will agree that she was the sweetest, kindest and hard-working woman who cherished her family and friends. To know her was to know “Dori/Doring,” “Mang” and “Lola” (grandma). Her five children are grateful to have the most loving, patient and generous Mang who also gave the warmest hugs. She would always spoil them with her delicious Filipino dishes such as fried fish, pinakbet and baked goods like puto, and buchi just to name a few. On Saturdays when her children and grandkids came over to spend the day, Lola looked forward to cooking their favorite meals and playing mahjong with them. It also brought her so much joy when the grandkids helped gather vegetables from her garden and played her favorite game of mancala with her.

To her husband and friends, she was Dori or Doring. They describe Dori as a wonderful, sweet, caring friend who was always there by their side whenever needed. And Dori loved having her friends over for a good meal and sharing freshly harvested tomatoes, eggplants, bitter plants, peanuts, corn or moringa, just to name a few.

Most of all, Dori (along with her husband Tino) was happiest outside in the dirt, under the sun. If you were to come visit her early in the morning, you would find this calm, sweet, quiet woman in the back yard, stooped down, digging dirt with her gardening gloves and not too far from her is her Tino, her gardening partner, her “Nong” as she called him, watering the various vegetables they have planted together. And if she’s not out in the back, she’s definitely in the front yard tending to her flowers. Flowers. Oh how she loved her flowers. If you wanted to give her a birthday gift or a Christmas present, don’t get her clothes, jewelry, or anything fancy. Just give her flowers or plants and you will see the most grateful, happiest lady with a big, beautiful smile accompanied by her adorable laugh.

Family and friends will really miss this sweet, joyful soul. They will think of her whenever they see beautiful flowers in bloom.

In addition to her husband Florentino Tuppil, Teodorica is survived by children, Graciano, Editha (husband Reginald), Gina (husband Richard), Florentino Jr. (wife Christina) and Jesusa; siblings Remigia Espino and Celestino Tactacan; grand-children, Serena, Emilly, Edmund, Isobel, Aubrey, Cecilia and Aurora.

She was preceded in death by brothers Bernardo Tactacan and Tomas Tactacan.
