Taras "Sam" L. McFarland, 76, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Thursday, January 26, 2017. Her Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd. at 12:00 p.m.
Sam was born February 14, 1940 in Horry County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Hugh M. Owens and the late Velma Mae Livingston Owens. She served in US Air Force, then retired from civil service in 1993 having worked for the US Navy and US Air Force. She enjoyed reading, living near the beach, and doing craft projects. Sam loved collecting and displaying family photos.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa L. Leask, her son-in-law, Noah, of Mount Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters, Brianna, Logan, and Peyton; her brother, Hugh Mack Owens; and her sister, Judy Pou.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister; and her husbands, Donald Wardell, Harold John Lien, and William L. McFarland.
