Sylvia Poindexter McNeil, 76, of Hanahan, South Carolina, widow of James A McNeil, Jr., entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 11, 2017. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Sylvia was born November 23, 1940 in Aberdeen, North Carolina, daughter of Chester Poindexter and Kathleen Lamb Poindexter. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. A woman of many hobbies, she could be found bowling, listening to country music, playing the keyboard and guitar, or restoring antique furniture with the touch of a master. She was also known to be an expert marksman with a wicked sense of humor.
She is survived by her two sons, Chris McNeil and Sean McNeil; two daughters, Wendy Hartman and Tracy McNeil; brother, Johnny Poindexter; five sisters: Patti Willis, Donna Sue Holland, Linda Stidham, Judy Dosher, and Pam Cumbee; granddaughter, Kristin McNeil; and grandson, Stephen Hartman, Jr.
