Sylvia Wilshin Garfinkel, 90, widow of Alex Garfinkel, passed away December 2, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at the graveside in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery (Maryville) Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Garfinkel was born October 13, 1921, in New York, NY, the daughter of Irving Wilshin and Nellie Wolfe Wilshin. She was a graduate of Hunter College in NY and held a post graduate degree in Microbiology. She was a member of The Sisterhood and Hadassah.
She is survived by three sons: David A. Garfinkel (Judy) of Jacksonville, FL, William I. Garfinkel (Amy) of Watertown, CT and Michael H. Garfinkel of New York, NY; one sister: Arlene Buitenkant of Oyster Bay, NY; and six grandchildren.
