Sydney Shipp Causey, born on September 11, 1933, in Chattanooga, TN, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, SC. She was a remarkable woman whose life story is a testament to love, family, and resilience.
Sydney was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Causey, Jr., and her first husband, Philip George Shipp. She also mourned the loss of her son, Timothy Lawton Shipp, her sons Christopher and Patrick who died shortly after birth, her sibling, John L. Wright, Jr., her sister-in-law, Peggy Wright, and her nephew, Stephen Wright.
She is survived by her beloved family, including her children: Philip Andrew Shipp (Vickie), Charles Patrick Shipp (Wendy), Paul Martin Shipp (Ruth), and daughter, Jeannine Shipp Jones (Les). Sydney cherished her role as a grandmother and is remembered fondly by her eight grandchildren: Jessica (William Mahaffey), Becky (Russell Spaulding), Emily, Kirsten, Timothy (Liz Barrow), Paul (Michelle), Allison, and Sydney AnnMarie. Additionally, she held a special place in her heart for her many great-grandchildren.
Sydney is also survived by her nephew, Jack Wright (Chantana) of San Antonio, TX.
The bonds she formed with her family and friends were a cornerstone of her life, and her memory will continue to resonate within them. As we remember Sydney, we honor her journey through life - a journey filled with love, dedication, and family. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
A receiving of friends will be held at Click Funeral Home at 11915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN on Friday, February 14, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church at 633 St. John Court, Knoxville, TN on Saturday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed on the St. John Neumann YouTube site (@st.johnneumannknoxville886) and Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/sjnknox). The Rite of Committal (Interment) will occur at 2:00 p.m. after the Mass at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Hwy, Clinton, TN.
