Sybil Hughes Wood

Sybil Hughes Wood, 84, of Ravenel, South Carolina, widow of I. Ripon Wood entered into eternal rest Friday, December 21, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 5412 Highway 165, Hollywood, SC at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Wood Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday in the Church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

Sybil was born May 23, 1934 in Bonneau, South Carolina, daughter of the late Peter Samuel Hughes and Sophie Perry Hughes. She was a graduate of the Medical College of South Carolina- School of Nursing-1957, past president of MCSC Nursing Alumni Association, and a member of ANA and NLN She was a retired nurse supervisor with Baker Hospital and Roper Hospital. Sybil loved gardening, cooking and wood working She was a former member of First Assembly of God Church and was a current member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her niece, Sharon Hughes Edmonds (Bill) of Ravenel, SC; nephew Kevin Wood (Marymalette) of Rock Hill, SC; great nephew B.J. Edmonds (Christen) of Cleveland, TN; several additional nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her brothers, Stanley E. Hughes and James E. Hughes.
