Susan Morgan Waddington

Susan Morgan Waddington, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Peter B. Waddington, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, October 29, 2024 following years of living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 4:00pm at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC. The family will receive friends following the service.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Peter B. Waddington; her children, Sarah Waddington, Peter (& Dione) Waddington, and Caitlin Waddington; her grandest grandchildren: Sam, Anna, Caroline “Snow” and Peter; her sister, Sarah (& Dr. Richard) Schwartzstein, and her brothers, George (& Marilyn) Morgan III and Paul Morgan, as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Susan was born September 27, 1944, in Bronxville, New York, daughter of the late Alfred “Bud” George Morgan, Jr. and the late Suzanne Whelan Morgan of whom she inherited her voracious appetite for reading. Raised in New York and Massachusetts, Susan enjoyed being wholly doted upon by her late grandparents Edith & Dr. Paul T. Connolly.

Susan could light up any room with her spectacular, blue eyes and brightest of smiles. She and Peter met in 1963 at college in Boston, quickly became smitten, and were married within the year. The ensuing years were filled with the birth of their three children while moving across the country from New England to Omaha, NE, to Michigan and finally, Mount Pleasant, SC.

Woven throughout her life, Susan had a knack for quirky, quick-witted zingers that left one shocked and often laughing at her audacity. Those who passed the test loved being in Susan’s circle.

With a creative soul and an eye for design, Susan opened, owned and operated a successful, high-quality, New England-influenced women’s clothing shop aptly named “S. Waddington”.

Without Susan, our world has truly dimmed. She has touched so many hearts. May we all continue to see her blue eyes radiating through the teals, blues and aquas of the sea.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Respite Care Charleston, a local, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to caregivers and those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia. RCC’s priority is to bring MORE. GOOD. DAYS.™ to families dealing with one of life's greatest challenges. https://donorbox.org/respitecarecharleston
