Susan Wilburn Stokes, 62, of Sterling,Virginia, wife of James E. Stokes, III., entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 17, 2016. The family will receive friends Thursday April 21, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL INC., 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Friday, April 22, 2016 in Beaufort National Cemetery,1601 Boundary Street at 1:00 p.m.

Susan was born November 18, 1953 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Claude "Pots" Wilburn and Evelyn "Pete" Smith Wilburn. She was an retired accountant and former member of James Island Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James E. Stokes, III., of Sterling, VA; son, James E. Stokes, IV., of Hay Market, VA; two sisters, Teresa Higgins of Rock Hill, NC, and Ann Douglas of Charlotte, NC; brother, Claude Wilburn of Charleston, SC.
