Susan Earle Reaves Mitchell

Susan Earle Reaves Mitchell, 92, of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Alexander Robert Mitchell, Jr., entered into eternal rest Friday, December 17, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in St. Andrews Anglican Church, 440 Whilden St., at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel Tuesday, December 21, from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Susan was born October 2, 1929 in Florence, SC, daughter of the late Joseph Earle Reaves and Eleanor Chisholm Halliday Reaves. Later the family moved to Bishopville, SC. She was a graduate of Columbia College, earning an A.B. in Library Science and a minor in Literature, and did graduate studies at Emory University. After working as a school librarian in St. Matthews, SC, St. Andrews High School, Charleston, and Laing Middle School, Mt. Pleasant, she retired from the Medical University of South Carolina Library.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Mitchell Frierson and her husband W. Robert Frierson, Jr. and their children, William R. Frierson III and Suzanne Alexander Mitchell Frierson of Columbia, SC; two sons, Alexander Robert Mitchell, III and his wife Konnie Torbahn and sons, Alex and Aidan of Atlanta, GA; and John David Mitchell and his wife Sara and son, Alexander, also of Atlanta, GA; six nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor R. Peter of Seattle, WA; and her brother, Clifford H. Reaves of Winston-Salem, NC.
