Susan D. Metzger

Susan Deardorf Metzger died Friday, January 16, 2015 after a brief illness. Her family will host a "Gathering of Friends" from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. A private family service will be held at a later date.

She was born in Salina, Kansas to William Porter and Bess Deardorf. She was graduated from Tulsa University and after traveling as a U. S. Army wife, she and her family moved to Charleston in 1978. She retired from Bank of America as an executive assistant in 2001.

She is survived by her sister, Diane Wood of Mount Pleasant, SC; three daughters, Mary Calhoun (Jim Chesnutt) of Northport, AL, Deb Brooks (Keith) of Edisto Island, SC, and Allison Roberts (John) of Mount Pleasant, SC; a son, Douglas Calhoun (Lizanne) of Hendersonville, TN; two grandsons, Matthew Calhoun (Rachel) of Ft. Meade, MD and Ryan Calhoun of Gallatin, TN; two granddaughters, Griffin Roberts and MaryGrayson Roberts of Mount Pleasant, SC; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles C. Calhoun and Marvin W. Metzger.
