Susan Castle Barkes, 74, wife of David Houston Barkes passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
 
Susan was born June 22, 1948 in Long Beach, California, daughter of Douglas Patton Winslow and Dorothy Carlson Winslow.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was most known for being a wonderful teacher and an avid animal lover.
 
She is survived by her husband, David Houston Barkes; daughter, Megan Castle Lee (Chad); son, Hunter Snowden Barkes (Heather). Two grandchildren: Nettie Lee and Shaw Barkes.
 
A private memorial service will take place in California.
