Stonewall Jackson Watson

October 1, 1944 — July 11, 2021

Stonewall Jackson Watson II of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest surrounded by family Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 76.

Jack was born October 1, 1944 in Anderson, South Carolina, son of the late Phil Jackson Watson and Margaret Jackson Watson. He is a graduate of The Citadel Class of 1967 and retired in 2002 following an extensive career with Michelin Tire Corporation.

Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Tissie of Charleston, SC; sons: P.J. Watson (Melissa) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Matt Watson (Leigh) of Mount Pleasant, SC; daughter, Meg Dorsel (Chris) of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Jackson Watson, Gardner and Perry Watson, and Kennedy and Watson Dorsel.

Jack loved God, his country, his family, his friends, his dogs, his hunt club, and sports. He loved The Citadel and especially Citadel football. Jack was often seen at practices and in the equipment room.

A special thank you with love to Dr. Brian Lingerfelt, Gwen Shattuck, Mary Watson, and all the staff of Charleston Oncology.

His funeral service will be held cryptside Sunday, July 18, 2021 at The Citadel Bell Tower, 171 Moultrie Street at 1:00 p.m. and can be viewed via Live Stream by visiting https://youtu.be/UUZ5SAcKzZk​. His wishes were for everyone to dress in football tailgate attire. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. A Celebration of Life to follow at the home of Matt and Leigh Watson in Mt. Pleasant.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Watson Family Athletic Scholarship held within The Citadel Brigadier Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
