CPO Stewart James Ronaldson, US Navy (Ret), 85, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Verna Coggins Abbott Ronaldson, died Monday, June 7, 2010, in a local hospital. Born October 21, 1924 in Aurora, IL, he was the son of James "Scotty" Ronaldson and Euphemia Morton Ronaldson. Mr. Ronaldson was a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, World War II Veteran. He retired after 30 years of service from the Naval Shipyard. He was an animal lover and an active member of the North Charleston World War II Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 25 years, Margaret Joan Ronaldson and his two brothers, Marvin G. and Kenneth C. Ronaldson. Mr. Ronaldson is survived by his wife of 29 years, Verna Ronaldson of North Charleston, SC; daughters: Sandy Ronaldson Kinard and her daughter, Stacy Louise of Charleston, SC, Sheree Ronaldson Richardson and her daughter Margaret Ann Magner and her husband, Brian and their daughter, Hannah Grace of Greenville, SC and Shelley Ronaldson Lewis and her husband, Jeff and their children, Jessica Brooke and Brandon Jeffery of Ehrhardt, SC. Step-daughter Peggy Saler and her children, April, Melissa and Matthew of Whittsett, NC and step-son, Doug Abbott of North Charleston, SC. The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's North Area Chapel, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
