Stevenson Everett Kemp, 85, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Mary Ann Michel Kemp entered into eternal rest Friday, April 30, 2021. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC at 11:00 AM. Inurnment in the Saint Joseph's Columbarium will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.
Stevenson was born February 23, 1936 in Gainesville, Florida, son of the late Richard Ridgley Kemp and Priscilla Everett Kemp. He was a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1958, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1958-1978. He was the recipient of numerous Meritorious Service Medals and the Bronze Star. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was the co-owner of Kemp Engineering Company, a firm that provided contract civil engineering services to Kline Iron & Steel Company in Columbia, SC. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America, United States Power Squadron, Pilot COM/MEL/IFR and a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63years. Mary Ann Kemp of Mount Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Beth Kemp McDonald (Ralph) of Niceville, FL; his sons, Stevenson E. Kemp, Jr.(Judy) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Paul D. Kemp (Becky) of Huger, SC and his grandchildren, Austin McDonald(Jessica), Kendall McDonald, Logan McDonald (Tim), Allyssa Kemp, and Mattie Kemp, his sister Denise Power of Vero Beach, FL, his nephew Kevin Holbrooks (Niki) of Jacksonville, FL. and niece Amy Thompson(Walter) of Jacksonville Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Kemp Holbrooks.
