Steven Warren
Sams
November 11, 1955 – May 2, 2026
Steven Warren Sams, 70, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 2, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Kelly Cameron Sams for 32 years. The family will hold a private graveside service at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens to honor his memory.
Born on November 11, 1955, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Steven was the cherished son of the late Warren Floyd Sams and the late Caroline Wood Sams. Steven pursued a distinguished career as a real estate appraiser, demonstrating keen expertise and dedication to his profession. Prior to his career as a real estate appraiser, he spent 18 years in retail management in the automotive tire industry.
Steven's passions extended beyond his work. He found great joy in hunting and fishing, embracing the tranquility and challenge of the outdoors. As an avid golfer in his earlier years, he spent countless hours on the course playing for Dorman High School and The Citadel golf teams. He had a strong affection for dogs all his life, especially his Irish setter, Beauregard, his cocker spaniels, Caleb & Sullivan, and finally his Boykin spaniel, Hunley. Known for his great sense of humor, Steven had a remarkable ability to bring laughter into any room and was often the life of the party. He was also an enthusiastic fan of football, golf, and NASCAR, embracing the excitement and camaraderie these sports provided.
A proud graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, class of 1978, Steven carried the values and discipline of his alma mater throughout his life. He graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration.
He leaves behind two devoted daughters: Caroline Elizabeth Sams Briggs (Pike) of Daniel Island, South Carolina, and Stephanie Cameron Sams (Jack H. Bormet) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He was a proud grandfather to Kennedy Grace Briggs, who brought him immense joy. Steven is also survived by his brother, Richard (Ric) Sams, and his wife Lynn, of Valrico, Florida.
Memorials may be made to The Citadel Foundation 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
