Steven Herman Knight, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 79. His Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 22, 2026 in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 12:30 pm. The family will receive friends Monday, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Born on June 10, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, Steven was the son of the late Capers Herman Knight and Miriam Connor Knight. A lifelong learner and dedicated public servant, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in 1968 and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina in 1971.

Following several years in private law practice, Steven devoted his career to public service as a Deputy Solicitor for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Throughout his distinguished 27-year tenure, he served with integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to justice. His dedication to the legal profession and the citizens he served earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Steven will be remembered for his wisdom, keen sense of wit, and unwavering sense of duty. An avid Gamecock fan, he proudly supported the University of South Carolina throughout his life and took great pride in cheering on his beloved Gamecocks.

He is survived by his son, Steven Judson Knight (Lisa); his daughter, Kimberly Lynn Knight (Gen); his grandson, Zachary Judson Knight (Natalie); his granddaughter, Lanie Jo Knight; and his great-granddaughter, Mary Collins Knight.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Knight.

The family is grateful for the many expressions of love and support during this difficult time and wishes to thank the caregivers at Quality Care Residential Home and Wren Hospice.
