Steve Benjamin Mitchum, 81, from Ravenel, SC, passed away on August 29, 2026 in his home with his wife Lorene by his side. After a courageous battle with illness, peaceful passing. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Trinity Bible Church, 3589 Mary Ader Drive, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to the service starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Christ-St. Paul's Churchyard. Arrangements by J. Steve was born in Alcolu, SC on June 22, 1945, the son of the late Steve Charles Mitchum and Louise Barfield Mitchum. He was an active member of Trinity Bible Church and contributed in many ways and was a support to the upkeep. He worked for many years with Smoke’s Heating and air as an HVAC mechanic and a metal fabricator. Steve loved barbecuing and cooking catfish stew, fishing, and working on old cars. He also loved family gatherings, often playing jokes on the family.

Steve is survived by his wife Lorene Mitchum of 32 years of marriage; sons, Steve Mitchum (Teresa), and Duke Mitchum (Cherron); daughter, Annette Alexander (Ralph); grandchildren, Amanda Caligiuri (Joseph), Miranda and Johnny Mitchum, Alexis Mitchum (Caden), Dalton Mitchum (Brooke), Robert Crosby, Jr., Dillon and Wade Mitchum, Justin and Jacob Alexander, Billy Faye Crosby and Benton Crosby; as well as ten great-grands and many nieces, nephew, and cousins. He is also survived by his siblings, Heyward Mitchum (Sylivia) of Reddick, FL, Stella Roden (Chuck) of Anthony, FL, Myrtle Robinson of Holly Hill, SC, Linda Henderson (Gene) of Moncks Corner, SC, and Evelyn Cook of Moncks Corner, SC.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his daughters, Teresa and Alberta Mitchum; sons, Wade Mitchum, Charles Mitchum; stepson, Robert Crosby; grandson, Billy Mitchum; and siblings, Vincent Mitchum, Cassie J. Singletary (William), Pat Mitchum (Ann), Robert Mitchum, Johnny Mitchum (Faye), Rebecca Barrickman, and Pearline Koone (Ernest).
