Stephen Lawrence Toole, 69, of Hollywood, SC passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2024 in the company of his loving wife Rhonda.
Steve was born on October 24th, 1954 in Charleston, SC. Steve attended North Charleston High School from 1967 to 1972, then went on to attend the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1976.
On November 2nd, 1984, Steve met the love of his life, Rhonda, on a blind date. They got married on March 8th, 1986 and enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage together. They spent their marriage raising their family, sharing adventures, and celebrating life’s moments. In the last few years, they enjoyed traveling the world together visiting numerous European countries and cities.
Steve was active in every aspect of his sons’ lives; whether it was coaching soccer, volunteering at school events, or helping fundraise for field trips. He enjoyed staying close to home, attending Gamecocks football games with his youngest son, Alexander. He also enjoyed music from artists such as The Beatles and The Moody Blues, and enjoyed seeing some of his favorite artists in concert, such as Chris de Burgh and Nils Lofgren.
Throughout high school and college, he worked for Shoney’s. After college, he entered the snack business in various positions working for companies such as Wise, Frito Lay and Dolly Madison. He then worked for Little Debbie (McKee Foods Corporation) as a District Sales Manager, retiring in 2015 after 20 years with the company. After a couple years of leisure, Steve worked part-time at Hendrick Lexus of Charleston, where he remained until he fully entered retirement in March of 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Lominac Toole of Hollywood, SC; his sons Charles Toole of Franklin, NC and Alexander Toole of Charlotte, NC; his brother Cary Toole (Beth) of Mount Pleasant, SC; and numerous extended family members.
Steve is predeceased by his parents, Norman Cary Toole and Margaret Tiller Toole; and sister Margaret “Peggy” Bozard.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 19th, 2024 in The Boathouse at Poplar Grove, 4245 Ten Shillings Way, Ravenel, SC 29470 at 1:00 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The ALS Association to help further global research and to help others living with the disease.
