Stephen Craig Summy

September 25, 1948 — January 3, 2017

Stephen Craig Summy, a long term resident of Houston (Seabrook), TX, and recently relocated to Charleston, SC, passed away unexpectedly on January 3rd at the age of 68.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 4 years Mary (Butler) Summy, his brother Phil Harris (Mary Harris), sisters Sandra (Crawford) Summy, Kim Harmon (Don Harmon), Sheila Harris (Tom Priebe), niece Tiffany McKenna, nephew Robert Crawford, Jr. (Whitney Crawford), great niece Shelby Crawford, great nephew, Cameron Crawford, children Jennifer Torrey (Kevin Torrey), Alison Ferch (David Ferch) and beloved grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Katie and Maggie Torrey.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Neysa Harris (mother), Bobby Jo Summy (father), and Deborah Hansen Sanders (wife).

Steve was a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy and the University of North Texas. He went on to become co-owner of the Abbey Inn, Dallas TX and later the Classic Café of Seabrook, TX. Steve retired from PRSI in April of 2015 after 34 years of service as an oil tank farm manager and had recently relocated with his wife Mary, to Charleston, SC to be closer to family members and friends in the area. He was a gifted photographer and left behind many beautiful photographs of his experiences and those around him. He was an avid reader and student of life. Each day he read many periodicals that were delivered 'old school' to his home and kept a close eye on the stock market. He was a kind, loving, and generous man whose most valued 'possessions' were his family and friends. Steve and his beautiful smile will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held in Charleston on March 4. Details will be provided at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Stephen's honor.
