Stephen Laverne Platt, 80, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Ann Phillips Platt, entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 23, 2026. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Stephen was born February 19, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late James Platt and Addie Lou Fogle Platt. Throughout his years, Stephen found great pleasure in the quiet solace of nature and the pursuit of hunting, a pursuit that not only connected him with nature, but also with friends and loved ones who joined him. In quieter moments, he found comfort in playing the guitar, filling many rooms with music and memories.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Douglas Bryon (Tonia) Platt; three granddaughters, Brandi (Justin) Farley, Krystle Carroll, and Stephanie Carroll; five grandsons, Michael (Laura) Platt, Bryon (Haley) Platt, Hunter (Heaven) Platt, Cody Platt, and Christopher Carroll; and 19 great-grandchildren who he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Michael Platt, Sr.; daughter, Sharon Tam; grandson, Andrew Carroll; sister, Jimmie Lou Platt; and brothers, Charles W. Platt, James Edward Platt, Ronnie Platt.
