Stephen Douglas "Doug" Jones

Stephen Douglas "Doug" Jones, 42, of Quail Drive in Charleston, SC, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

He was the son of Margaret Susan Edwards Jones (Sue Jones) and William Talmage Jones of Wilmington, NC. He was a 1988 graduate of John T. Hoggard High School. He worked for Chili's Restaurant in Wilmington, NC, Columbia, SC and Charleston, SC. He was awarded Employee of the Year and was loved by his fellow employees.

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by the love of his life, his wife of ten years, Laura Yancey Jones and her mother Juanita Tuck Yancey. He is also survived by a younger brother Joshua Edwards Jones and his wife Melanie and another brother Bryan Fields Jones and his wife Kara. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, who he loved dearly. He had many special nieces and nephews who he shared his love of fossil hunting, coin collecting, music and cooking.

Doug was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Allen Yancey, Jr. Doug loved his animals and was preceded in death by his faithful canine companions, Maggie and Haley. He loved spending time with his cats Raney, Tucker, Henderson and Ani and tending his garden. Doug taught those around him to be a loyal friend and family member. He will be missed by his friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Columbia, SC at 1:00pm.
