Stephen Leroy "Ronnie" Blackman

Stephen Leroy "Ronnie" Blackman, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 13, 2025. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel at 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 6:00 pm until time of the service.

Ronnie was born August 6, 1934 in Sumter, South Carolina, son of the late Arnis and Grace Blackman. He attended Florida State University and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed a 40 year career in meteorology, working as a meteorological technician with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He was an avid fan of driving - the longer the road the more fun. Known as "Papaw" he especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal L. Blackman of North Charleston, SC; his son, Stephen L. Blackman, Jr. (Robin) of Mount Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Foxx (Taylor) of Fort Mill, SC, Lauren Blackman of Gainesville, FL, and Jordan Blackman of Mount Pleasant, SC; his sister, Jeanne Tucker of Greenville, SC; his brother, Randall Blackman (Pat) of Spartanburg, SC; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steele and Russell Blackmon, and his former wife, Sarah K. Blackman.
