Stella Brooks Burgess, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Harry Burgess, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Monday, June 2, 2025 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. A visitation will take place prior to the service in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Stella was born May 6, 1928 in Morehead, Kentucky, daughter of the late George Brooks and Elizabeth Garner Brooks. Stella enjoyed gardening flowers, looking at old family photos, and especially loved baking her famous apple pie and fruitcakes. She was also a proud navy wife for 20 years before Harry retired.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia L. Spears (Steve) of Charleston, SC; sister, Mary Webster (Lawson) of Westwood, KY; son-in-law, Michael Hunt of North Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Olivia Wilder; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Wilder and Collin Wilder. In addition to her husband and parents, Stella was preceded in death by her daughter, Joy Hunt; and siblings, Martha Hall, Ann Salyers Hoarsley, Dot Brooks, Allie Brooks, Jesse Brooks, Paul Brooks, and Charles Brooks.
