Stanley Wesley Smith

Stanley Wesley Smith, Jr., 60, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, husband of Jean Marie Berry Smith, passed Wednesday, March 23, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday before the service from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

Stanley was born May 11, 1955 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, son of the late Stanley Wesley Smith, Sr. and Erma Greenleaf Smith. Stanley worked in the steel industry for over 40 years. Stanley was an integral part of the start up of multiple steel mills. Most recently Stanley was the Manager of Maintenance in the Melt Shop at Big River Steel in Arkansas. Stanley was a very generous man who loved his family unconditionally, lived his life to the fullest everyday, and gave back in every way he could. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, Jean, he is survived by his children, Chelsey Carver (Clay), Wesley Smith (Tara), Jared DePhillips, and Kami DePhillips; grandchildren, Austin Smith and Franklin and Derek Carver; one sister, Susan, and his step-mother, Nancy.
