Stanley Jack Orenstein

Stanley Jack Orenstein, 78, of Kiawah Island, SC, husband of Bonnie Diamond Orenstein entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 3, 2015. His funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am, with burial services to held later in Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Stan was born September 2, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Morris Orenstein and Selma Kadison Orenstein. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri and held a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore. He spent four years as an officer in the US Navy stationed in Japan, after which he served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During his 25 year career with the FBI, he worked and supervised every type of case. He specialized in violent and white collar crime, major theft and fugitive investigations, and held two medals for perfect scores in combat pistol marksmanship. After retiring from the FBI, he spent six years organizing the corporate security department for Sandy Spring National Bank in Maryland.

In 1992, Stan and Bonnie retired to South Carolina to enjoy Kiawah Island where Stan's career continued as a Private Security consultant and investigator in Charleston, SC. He conducted a wide variety of criminal, civil and background investigations and also performed consulting services for the FBI, US Dept of State, law enforcement agencies, county and municipal governments, private industries and for attorneys throughout the U.S. He was also a member of the Certified Financial Services Security Professional, American Bankers Association Chairman of Charleston, SC and MD Chapters, Former FBI Agents Society, South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association Member Assessor, Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and Montgomery County Police Alumni Associate Honorary Lifetime Member.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Diamond Orenstein of Kiawah Island, SC; four sons, Craig Orenstein (Kelly) of Johns Island, SC, Jon Orenstein (Mary Pat) of Kernersville, NC, Gary Orenstein (Wendi) of Cape Girardeau, MO, Jason Orenstein (Jennifer) of Macon GA; sister, Marilyn Astor of The Villages, FL; nine grandchildren, Justin Orenstein, Alyssa Orenstein Micklos, Joe Orenstein, Evan Orenstein, Alexandra Orenstein, Kadison Orenstein, Bradley Orenstein, Adam Orenstein, and Jacob Orenstein.
