Stan Leland Nimmons, 69, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Elisabeth “Beth” Frink Nimmons passed peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 2:00 pm until time of the service.

Stan was born November 10, 1953 in Greenville, SC, son of the late Ralph L. Nimmons and Doris Odessa Pitts Nimmons. He was a graduate of the College of Charleston and a man of many gifts and talents. He was a sailor, surfer, professional artist and sculptor, musician, teacher, and master craftsman. He shared his artistic talents teaching in his private studio, the Charleston County Schools and the Gibbes Museum of Art. He was a past member of the Charleston and Mt. Pleasant Artist Guilds and past President of the Lowcountry Sculpture Society. His work has been shown in many galleries and museums throughout the Lowcountry.

Stan held Residential and General Contractor licenses and was the sole owner of Master Craftsmen, Inc. and Nimmons Building Contractors, LLC, and partner in South Atlantic Contractors, LLC, engaging in new construction and the renovation and restoration of many historical properties in and around Charleston, SC.

Music was a huge part of Stan’s life and he loved playing guitar and jamming with friends. Stan was an avid surfer and sailor and spent as much time at the beach and on the water as possible. Most of all, Stan loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beth Nimmons; his son, Chris Nimmons (Bree) of Summerville, SC; his daughter, Laura Ketner (Matt) of Rural Hall, NC; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Waylon, Colton, Savvy, Willow, and Luna; his brother, Anthony "Tony" Nimmons of Greenville, SC; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Chihuahua, Ginger.
