Sidney N. Silver, 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Helen Schneider Silver passed away Friday, February 22, 2013. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 in the Kahl Kadosh Beth Elohim Reform at 11:30 am. Interment, Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Ave. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Sidney was born January 1, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Aaron Kalman Silver and Anna Aronoff Silver. He grew up in Atlanta, GA where he graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.A. in electrical engineering in 1941. He married Helen Schneider in 1942 in Knoxville, TN. He served in the Army signal Corps from 1943-1946. During his career, he worked for TVA, Combustion Engineering Co. and Rural Electrification of the USDA. He retired to Charleston, SC in 1984. Sidney enjoyed playing bridge and tennis.
He is survived by his daughter, Marsha S. Greenhill and son-in-law Bill ; son, Dr. Richard M. Silver and his wife Dunlap all of Charleston SC; son Dr. H.Steven Silver and companion, Rona Womack of Knoxville, TN. He left 5 grandchildren: Daniel Greenhill of Charleston; Ephia Thibault and husband Rapha??l of St. Chamond, France; Dr. Katherine Silver of Birmingham, AL and fianc??e , Dr. Scott Lindhorst of Durham, NC; Molly Silver of Los Angeles, CA; Joshua Silver of Nashville, TN and one great-grandson, Philemon Thibault.
