Shirley F. Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and longtime resident of Goose Creek, SC, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Born and raised with a deep sense of community, Shirley devoted her life to her family, her work, and her passions.
Shirley was a proud mother to three children-Carson, Joe (Carrie), and Yvonne (Craig)-a doting grandmother to five grandchildren: Carson, Donnie, Travis, Caroline, and Kindal- and great grandmother to Carson, Carleigh, and Calleigh. She poured love and care into every moment spent with her family, guiding them with a fierce sense of independence and a no-nonsense attitude.
For over 30 years, Shirley worked in the Berkeley County Food Service in a management role, where her dedication and strong work ethic were admired by all who worked with her. Outside of her career, she was an integral part of the community, always volunteering and pitching in at the ballpark during her children’s extracurricular activities. Her contributions to the community were a testament to her unwavering commitment to making the lives of others better.
A resident of Goose Creek since the 1960s, Shirley watched her community grow and evolve, always finding ways to stay engaged and involved. Even as she enjoyed her retirement years, Shirley remained passionate about life, embracing hobbies like reading, gardening, and cheering on her beloved football teams, which changed as a good natured fair weather fan. Her companion in these activities was her rescue cat, which she named Kat. She had a longstanding friendship with the Kelly family that lived across the street. Mrs. Yoshie Kelly and Naomi, thank you for your unwavering support and kindness through all the seasons and challenges of life. Your willingness to step in, lend a helping hand, and go above and beyond in times of need has meant the world to us. Whether it’s a kind word, a shared smile, or tangible assistance, your generosity and care never go unnoticed. We’re truly grateful to have such a thoughtful and compassionate neighbors.
Shirley’s life was marked by an incredible resilience, always finding a way to overcome any obstacle in her path. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, and the deep love she had for her family and her community.
