Shirley Davis Whitfield, 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late William Floyd Whitfield, Sr., entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 in Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2025 Bees Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment, to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, in Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Shirley was born November 25, 1930 in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of John "JT" Thomas Davis and Minnie Virginia Davis. A devoted wife and homemaker, Shirley found her passion in caring for her family and so many others that journeyed into her life. Her devotion and obedience to God were at the forefront of her life. Shirley was actively involved in many ministries at Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church, Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church and Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church. She was heavily involved in many areas of service at Charleston Southern University and enjoyed every minute in service to the school. Shirley was unashamed and boldly proclaimed how Jesus blessed her life in so many ways. A life filled with joy, music was a love that permeated her sweet soul for as long as anyone can remember. Loving others was her special gift and her Godly influence will remain with the lives she touched forever.

She is survived by her two sons, William (Bill) Floyd Whitfield Jr. (Marcy) and Timothy (Tim) Wayne Whitfield Sr. (Alina); four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Floyd Whitfield Sr.; her parents; and four brothers John, Joe, Bill and Charles.
