Shirley Ann Strain Vaz

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of July 30, 2011, Shirley Ann Strain Vaz, of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  The family and friends of Shirley Vaz are invited to attend her Funeral Service in Seacoast Community Chapel, 750 Longpoint Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Burial services will be conducted later in Flushing Cemetery, Queens, NY.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Friday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Shirley was born on October 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Samuel Edward Strain and Margaret Lee Mosley.  She retired from the New York Police Department as a Civilian Investigator.  She is survived by three daughters, Gina Vaz Parker, of Middletown, NY; Andrea Vaz, of Queens (Kew Gardens), NY; and Audra Vaz Harvey, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one son, Donald Vaz, Jr. of Newark, NJ; four sisters, Patricia Hardy, of Brooklyn, NY; Victoria Hogan and Margaret Maynard, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and Paulett Wilshire, of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Samuel Strain, of Cherry Hill, NJ; Dr. Thomas Strain, of Albuquerque, NM; and Henry Strain, of West Hampton Beach, NY; five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
