Shirley B. Murden, 86, of Charleston, SC, wife of Herman Quinton Murden, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 in the Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the Church beginning at 10:00 am. Masks and social distancing are required. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Shirley was born September 25, 1934 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late John Booker Braudrick and Virginia Collins Braudrick. She was also predeceased by her sister Barbara Braudrick.
A charter and life member of Ashley River Baptist Church, she loved her Lord and supported His Church faithfully.
Shirley was an ardent Clemson sports fan. But deep down she was an athlete. She played basketball and softball at St. Andrews Parish High School. Shirley continued playing softball for most of her life; on playground, tournament and church league teams until just a few years ago.
In addition to her husband of 69 years, she is survived by her sons, Shane Murden, Herman Q. Murden, Jr (Julie), and John Murden (Bonnie); grandchildren, Andrew Q Murden (Valerie), John A Murden, Jr., and Jessica Murden; and great grandchild, Andrew Murden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
