Shirley Venning Kruger

Shirley Venning Kruger, 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Walter James Kruger Jr., entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 23, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
 
Shirley was born April 30, 1928, in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Ashley Capers Venning and Leila Atkinson Venning. Shirley graduated from Memminger High School, studied piano at Coker College and attended College of Charleston. Shirley was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, which she began attending as a child, and later served as an Elder.

She is survived by son, Walter James Kruger III (Sandra) of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Logan Ellis Kruger (Leah); great-grandchildren, Rivers and Stevie May of Brooklyn NY, as well as her beloved family of nieces Carol Wood (Marvin), Janice Moniz Daniel (Andy), Gail Thompson; nephew, Al Thompson (Ginny), and their children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter James Kruger Jr.; son, Steven Venning Kruger; mother, Leila Venning; father, Ashley Capers Venning; and siblings William Carlton Venning, and Elizabeth Venning Yon.
