Shirley K. Kennerty

December 10, 1925 — August 26, 2011

Shirley Nicely Kennerty, 85, of North Charleston, SC, widow of Herman Kennerty, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2011.


Born December 10, 1925 in Covington, VA she was one of four children of Clarence B. Nicely and Virginia Duncan Nicely.  Mrs. Kennerty graduated from North Charleston High School.  She and her husband owned and operated Kennerty's Cleaners.  She was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church.


Mrs. Kennerty is survived by daughters:  Kathy Klahn and her husband Rev. Dan Klahn of Dolan Springs, AZ, Jacquline Stark of North Charleston, SC, Patricia K. Johnson and her husband Kenny of Spruce Pine, NC, Emma Jean Kennerty of North Charleston, SC; son, John Kennerty and his wife Connie of York, SC; sister,  Regina Taylor of North Charleston, SC; brothers-in-law, Raymond Kennerty and his wife Judy of Charleston, SC and Emmett Tiller of North Charleston; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; a plethora of nieces and nephews; special grandchild by love, Christian L. Windham of Summerville, SC; special son by love, Hiram Grantham IV of Fayetteville, NC.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Tiller and Jerry Haynes.


The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM.  Interment to follow at Riverview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends in Stuhr's North Area Chapel Sunday, August 28, 2011 between 2:00 and 4:00 PM.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Suite 300, Charleston, SC 29403.
