Shirley Thrift Cowart, age 74, widow of James Mack Cowart, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born in Charleston in July 1941, to the late Clarisse Doar Thrift and William J. Thrift, Sr. Her funeral service will be held Monday, August 24th at 6:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Cowart Verble and her husband, Dallas A. Verble, III; brother, William J. Thrift, Jr.; two sisters, Toni Thrift Farley and Delores Thrift Wood; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
