Shirley Jean Bratcher

Shirley Jean Bratcher, 73, of Hanahan, SC, widow of William David Bratcher, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 13, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Advent Lutheran Church, 3347 Rivers Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.

Mrs. Bratcher was born February 27, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Carl Rollins and Ruby McCarter Rollins. She retired from Charleston County School District in 1997. She was the school secretary at Berry Elementary School for 21 years. Shirley was an active member in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1970, an active member of Advent Lutheran Church and formerly volunteered at Roper Hospital and North Charleston Elementary School.

She is survived by her children, Donna Kay Bratcher Cassavaw of Hanahan, Carl Edward Bratcher and wife, Janine, of Moncks Corner and Cheryl-Grace Elizabeth Patty of Fremont, CA; sister, Charlotte Moore of Charlotte, NC; brother, Joseph E. Rollins and wife, Doris, of Rock Hill, SC; and grandchildren, Miranda Reed, Carl David Patty and Adam Cassavaw. She was predeceased by a son, David Keith Bratcher.
