Born December 21, 1931 in Charleston to Ida Steinert Karesh and Abe Karesh, she grew up with her older brother, Bernard (Buddy) Karesh and younger siblings, Kaylene Schoenberg, Jack Karesh and Sheila Weiss. She met Arthur Rosenblum on a blind date and they married November 23, 1952. They were married for 73 years and raised four daughters. Shelley Mitzner (Barry), Marsha Strongin (Geoffrey), Ellen Uram (David), and Stacy Regitsky (Jon).
Sheralyn was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Jenna Mitzner Rabhan (Benji), Oren Mitzner, Hannah Ozer (Rob), Ari Kolender (Molly), David Kolender, Drew Regitsky (Julie), Alec Regitsky, and Ross Regitsky (Abigail). She felt blessed to have 5 great-grandchildren (and 2 more on the way), Aaro and Nava Rabhan, Sidney Gati, and Hyla and Lacy Regitsky.
She was an active member of Synagogue Emanu-El serving as President of the Sisterhood and a Life Member of National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah.
Family was everything to her; it was how she lived. She was the person everyone could-and did-depend on for comfort, a ride, a meal, or a listening ear. She offered this kindness to her immediate and extended family, and her friends. Her care knew no boundaries. She gave her best self to the people she loved, never expecting anything in return.
The family is eternally grateful to Sheralyn’s dedicated caregivers Latisha Mikel and Shareese Hayward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite nonprofit in her memory.
Condolence calls will be held at her residence Sunday, May 4th and Monday, May 5th from 5 to 7pm.
