Shep Yelman

June 11, 1913 — May 18, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of May 18, 2010, Shep Yelman, widower of Helen Insel Yelman.  Residence, Charleston, SC.  The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the graveside Friday, May 21, 2010 at one o'clock in Emanu-El Cemetery, "Maryville". 


Mr. Yelman was born June 11, 1913 in St. Matthews, SC, the son of Judah Yelman and Hannah Gordin Yelman.  He was a retired hardware salesperson. Mr. Yelman served with the United States Army during World War II as a member of the 753rd Tank Battalion, seeing action in Sicily, Italy and France for three years. He was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El and volunteered with St. Francis Hospital.


He is survived by two daughters: Brenda Lederman (Sid) of Charleston, SC and Martha Fine (David) of Milwaukee, WI; one son: Ron Yelman (Sidni) of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
