Shelley Crocker Warren, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 14, 2024. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Old St. Andrews Parish Church at 10:00 am, and burial will immediately follow in the churchyard.
Shelley was born July 22, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late John W. Crocker and Frances Elizabeth (Betty) Jones Crocker. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant, SC and graduated from Moultrie High School in 1971. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi, but left after two years to marry Michael Warren. She later went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and earned her Master's from North Carolina State University. They lived in various cities while Michael pursued his medical training and then settled in Charleston.
Shelley loved painting, reading and history, but the joy of her life was her family. She was as devoted to Michael as he was to her, and they treasured their large family get-togethers for holidays and birthdays. She never missed an opportunity to send cards for every occasion.
Shelley struggled with MS for most of her life, but she didn’t let it stop her from being gracious to everyone and grateful to God for her time on earth. She was an inspiration to everyone and a lesson on how to deal with whatever life hands you.
She is survived by her brothers, John William Crocker (Jill) of Hollywood, SC and Robin S. Crocker (Kim) of Fort Worth, TX; extended family, Kenneth Warren (Nancy), Gerald Warren (Torey), and Melinda Westall (Ron); nieces and nephews, Andy (Brittany), Stephanie (Jamie), David (Meghan), Laura, Lindsay (Tony), Matthew (Katie), Barrie (Scott), Jenni, and Billy; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shelley was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael Forrester Warren; and niece, Hannah Warren.
The family extends special thanks to her wonderful caregivers Carol, Jere, Aurora, Tammy and Rebecca, and to Ron and Lindy for opening their hearts and home to Shelley.
Memorial donations can be made in Shelley's memory to Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church.
