Sharon Dukes Classen, a beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, danced into Heaven joyfully on April 28, 2026, surrounded by her family, at the age of 79.
Born on November 28, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, Sharon was the daughter of Lula Mae Grooms Dukes and James Whiteman Dukes. From these humble beginnings, she built a life rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She especially enjoyed watching Stingrays hockey alongside the love of her life, her husband, Terry Lewis Classen, and she proudly passed that love on to her children and grandchildren.
Sharon was a devoted mother to Sheila Walker Ross (Robby) Kimberly Classen Wilson (John), Randall Howard Classen (Cathy), Theresa Classen Tucker (Larry) including the late Constance Ann Walker and Tina Walker Williamson. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Barbara, Jeanette, and James "Bubba" and her beloved husband, Terry.
Her greatest joy was her family. Sharon cherished her role as a grandmother to 16 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 29 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. Her home and heart were always open, offering warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love to all who entered.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sharon loved her church and her church family. Her spiritual strength guided her life and provided comfort and inspiration to those around her. She found peace in her faith, joy in fellowship, and took great pride in being a “Pearl Girl.”
Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the love she gave so freely. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Grace Point, 942 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412, at 1:30 pm, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
