Entered into eternal rest the morning of December 18, 2011, PO1 Shane Francis Thomas Shenton, US Navy (ret), husband of Claudia Glenda Garner Shenton. Residence, Goose Creek, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Shane Francis Thomas Shenton are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial in All Saints Chapel (Min Riv), Naval Weapons Station, 2316 Redbank Road, Goose Creek, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 10 am. The Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell, with Military Honors, will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road Wednesday, from 5 pm until 7 pm with a 2 Bell Service at 5 pm.
Born November 11, 1938 in Bronx, New York, Shane was the son of the late William Henry Shenton and Margaret Gallagher Shenton. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired with 20 years of service. Shane was a member of the American Legion Post 166, a life member of the VFW Post 10256, a member of the Fleet Reserve, Branch 269 and the 40/8 Voiture 1067. Shane worked at several shipyards in the area, Detyens Shipyard, Swaggart Shipyard, Braswell Shipyard and also at Westvaco Paper and the Naval Weapons Station.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years: Claudia Glenda Garner Shenton ; children: Randy Murphy(Lori), Gerald Murphy, Michelle Turgeon (Ron), Thomas Shenton, Cory LeBlanc, Bill LeBlanc (ChiChi), and Daniel LeBlanc (Catherine); grandchildren: Andrew Barnes, Christopher Turgeon, Michael Turgeon, Kaylen LeBlanc, Porsha LeBlanc, Daniel Beard, Aliya LeBlanc, Candice Morris, Erika Willey, Madison LeBlanc and Angelina Burton-LeBlanc: great grandchildren: Drayton Forlaw and Joslynn Johnson; and a sister: Mary McKillap. Mr. Shenton was preceded in death by 2 children: Patrick Shenton and Darlene Beard.
