Entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2010, SGM Robert Edward Mills, US Army (Ret.), husband of Elsie Repp Mills. Residence, Charleston, SC. Friends and family of SGM and Mrs. Mills are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL at 11:00 A.M with military honors. The family will receive friends at the Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Tuesday, October 19, 2010, from six until eight o'clock.
SGM Mills was born May 10, 1933 in Kershaw, SC, a son of Jesse Edward Mills and Ethel Lee Broom Mills. SGM Mills proudly served for 26 years in the US Army, participating in the 9th Armored Division and the 14th Armored Calvary Regiment. He also retired from the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, after 20 years of service. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed golf and bowling, and was a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress (USBC).
He is survived by his wife of 51 years; four sons, Kenneth Arnold Mills of North Charleston Robert H. Mills of Atlanta, GA, Stephen James Mills of Corpus Christi, TX, and Jesse Mills of Charleston; two brothers, Randy Mills of Mt. Pleasant, and Jimmy Mills of North Charleston; and one sister, Patsy Crain of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Heather, Angie, Amanda, and Michael; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
