It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Serena Stoney Wallace, 60, of McClellanville, South Carolina, announce that she passed into another realm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, after a brief and unexpected illness. Her memorial service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, in the St. James Santee Episcopal Church, McClellanville, SC at 10:30 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Serena was born December 27, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, daughter of Samuel David Stoney, Jr. and the late Bonnie Fulton Stoney. Samuel is the son of the late Samuel David Stoney, Sr and Louisa Dudley Stoney. Bonnie was the daughter of Edwin and Dorothy Burns Fulton. Serena lived in Hilton Head, SC, for many years where she worked as a Dental Assistant and was married to Fredrick C. Wallace. She had one son, Richard Benjamin Wallace, who sadly passed in 2015 his 26th year. Serena had a very beautiful, giving spirit that will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Samuel David Stoney, III of Clearwater, FL; and aunt, Marcy Stoney Walsh of Charleston, SC.
Farewell dear Serena, we will always remember your favorite Rumi poem:
Dance, when you’re broken open.
Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off.
Dance in the midst of the fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance when you’re perfectly free.
