SCPO William "Bill" Vann Bunce, U.S. Navy (Ret), 82, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, widower of Anne Jorgensen Bunce entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 13, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 10:00 am in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway . Interment will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 pm with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
William was born August 5, 1931 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, son of the late George Wesley Bunce and Eva Matthews Bunce. William was proud to serve 40 years with the Federal Government. Twenty years were served in active duty with the U.S. Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He continued his career in civil service for 20 years with The Charleston Naval Supply Center and The Defense Logistics Agency as a Supply Analyst. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, American Legion, Edisto Island Free Space and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Edisto Island.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Bunce Enslin (Johan), Tina Mae Bunce Alderman (John) all of Summerville, SC; brother, Dwight Bunce of Rougemont, NC; two sisters, Lucy Ellis and Sue Livengood both of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren: Christopher Bunce, Mikayla Vaughan, Gia Alderman, Bethany Enslin and Chloe Enslin; close family friend Dee Baker of Charleston, SC.
