SCPO Donald Harold Abney (USN, Ret.)

SCPO Donald Harold Abney, (USN, Ret.), 78, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, husband of Nieves Cawaling Abney died Thursday, November 23, 2017. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 1:00 pm. Interment with military honors will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC. The family will receive friends Monday, November 27, 2017 in the Northwoods Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Donald was born August 15, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up in Kentucky, son of the late Fred Abney and the late Medie Lou Reed Abney. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Goose Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Nieves Abney of Moncks Corner, SC; son, David Abney (Kelley) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Donna Jean Abney of Goose Creek, SC; eight grandchildren, Carlin Lentz (Charlie), Kimber Bullington (Chris), Lauren Ard, Brynn Blake, Elijah Abney, Miranda Abney, Robyn Abney and Travis Abney; eight great grandchildren, Holdyn, Paceyn, Saryn, Morgan, Matthew, Abigail, Rachel and Bryant; three sisters, Mabel, Pamela, and Jonita. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald H. Abney, Jr., brother, Jessee, and sister, Barbara.
