Saul Krawcheck, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Blossom Friedman Krawcheck, entered into eternal rest January 4th, 2013. His Funeral Service will be held at the graveside on Monday, January 7, 2013 in Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue, Charleston, at 11:00 am.
Mr. Krawcheck was born March 25, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Jack Krawcheck and Esther Bielsky Krawcheck. He attended University of Wisconsin where he was stationed as an Air Force Cadet during World War II. There he met his wife Blossom; they were devoted to each other for 67 years. Mr. Krawcheck was co-owner of Jack Krawcheck Clothier for Men until retiring in his seventies. He shared his father's passion for historic preservation, and was a force as a member of the Charleston Preservation Society. He was a member of Charleston Rotary for most of his adult life. He never lost his passion for learning and was quite accomplished at all of his endeavors. Mr. Krawcheck was the lead actor in many plays at The Dock Street Theatre, where he is remembered for his rich baritone vocals. He was emcee for The March of Dimes Telethon for many years. Sailing was a major part of his life, and he was rewarded with many victories at regattas and was a member of the Charleston Yacht Club. He was an accomplished equestrian. At 70 years old, Mr. Krawcheck went back to college at The College of Charleston, where he earned a degree in Fine Arts with distinction at age 74, and was honored by the president of the college for his dedication and contributions to The College of Charleston with an event held at the college. He continued his marine painting until his recent illness and had developed many patrons by that time.
Mr. Krawcheck was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as the quintessential southern gentleman. His family is so proud and grateful to have had the privilege of sharing his life, and will treasure his memory always.
He is survived by his wife Blossom of 67 years; son Larry Krawcheck of Charleston, SC; two daughters: Marcy Krawcheck and Mackie Krawcheck Moore (Charlie) of Charleston, SC; 6 grandchildren: John Rosen (Anne), Caroline Porter, Elizabeth Porter, Genevieve Porter, Sophie Mauerhan, and Chase Mauerhan, all of Charleston, SC; His brother Lenny Krawcheck (Townie) of Charleston, SC; sister Claire Nussbaum (Maurice) of Charleston, SC; and sister Myra Read of San Francisco, CA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by daughter, Beth Krawcheck Rosen and grandson, Joshua Rosen.
