Sarah Mellon Schwartz Wey

Mrs. Sarah Mellon Schwartz Wey of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered eternal life on July 22, 2018, surrounded by family and prayers at the age of 73. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Wey was born February 3, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA to Mary Mellon Kampmann Schwartz of San Antonio,TX (1908-1995) and Lawrence Deen Schwartz of Winchester, VA (1910-1957). Major Lawrence Deen Schwartz left the Army Aircorps and the family relocated to Glencoe, Illinois and then to Rye, NY. Mrs. Wey attended Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, CT. In Rye, she was a member of Christ's Church and was a volunteer nurse at United Hospital. She taught aerobic dancing for many years while also raising her two sons. Mrs. Wey and her husband Peter R. Wey (1936-2017) later moved to Charleston, SC. In Charleston, she was a member of St. Phillips Church, the Creekside Garden Club, the United States Tennis Association, and was an avid gardener. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her two sons, Alexander Mellon Wey of Mount Pleasant, SC and Peter Deen Wey, his wife Leigh Mendelsohn Wey, and their two sons Robert Deen Wey and Daniel Joseph Wey of James Island, SC.
