Sarah Pitts Walton

Sarah Pitts Walton, 96, a ten year resident of the Canterbury House in Charleston, SC, died Monday, February 14, 2011, in a local hospital.

Born June 25, 1914 in Newberry, SC she was one of five children of Walter Oscar Pitts and Mary Lee Stilwell Pitts.  She was retired from Trident Hospital where she worked in the dietary department.  She was a member of Portside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Walton is survived by her four daughters:  Anne Clifton and Betty Walton both of Charleston, SC, Patsy Walton of St. Augustine, FL and Vanette Cowart of Mt. Pleasant, SC; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Pitts of Newberry, SC.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Van W. Walton; two brothers, William Pitts and Thomas "TD" Pitts and one sister, Dorothy "Dot" Buford.

The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM.  The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Wednesday between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
