Sarah Shuler Hilton, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Dr. Ray Daniel Hilton, Jr., went home to be with Our Lord Jesus on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in the sanctuary of Ashley River Baptist Church, at 11:00. The family will receive friends before the service at 10:00 at Ashley River Baptist Church.
Sarah was born July 5, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Rubin Asbury Shuler and Barbara Ellen Grimes Shuler. She grew up on James Island and went to James Island Baptist Church as a child. Sarah fell in love when she met Ray and they were married for 63 years. Their love and devotion to each other inspires their children and grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her family, and having family fun, whether boating with Ray or enjoying Disney World. She was involved in leading GA’s, taking care of children in the church nursery, Sunday School, participating in the church choir and helping with the children ministries at Ashley River Baptist Church. Sarah also served as Ray’s office manager in his dental practice. She was an amazing mom and grandmother (MeMe) who had a caring heart and wanted to share God’s love with others.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by, her son, David Ray Hilton (Melissa) of Fort Mill, SC; her daughter Denise Christene Hilton (Chadwick) of Charleston, SC; her sister, Carolyn Benton of Charleston, SC and her five grandchildren, Thomas Hilton, Jackson Hilton, Lee Hilton, Luke Hilton, and Anna Caroline Hilton. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Barbara Weeks, Mary Fleming, and Julia Pearson. Sarah had and loved her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank her friends and caregivers at Magnolias of Walterboro for surrounding her with love. The family would also like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Edisto Home Care & Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sarah’s memory to Ashley River Baptist Church or Edisto Home Care & Hospice.
